Bogyoke Market Art Galleries

There are several art galleries, some are bigger others smaller they have a good average of beautiful Myanmar paintings. Realistic paintings are on display, other rather with an impressionist flavor and some are total abstract. Most of the paintings have either a Buddha theme or show scenery and people in rural areas. Most are oil and watercolor artwork.

There is plenty of relief work, woodcarvings, jade sculptures and "stone paintings", that means scenes composed by small precious stones or dust. Also small trees where the leaves and fruits are created from jade, people have a lot of ideas, most of this looks like "kitsch" but people buy them although this is not cheap stuff.

The overwhelming majority are jewelry art shops

and this is somehow real artistic work in particular ethnic jewelry which is pure

handcrafted, actually in Burma there is not real distinction between art and crafts.
