Jewelry Shops Bogyoke Aung San Market

In the best tradition of a rich oriental bazaar

all kind of exiting jewelry is on display. This is jade, gold, silver, ruby, sapphire and plenty of semi precious stones mounted in various frames to show what you have and enjoying precious body decoration. It's amazing what amount of creativity people are putting into creating this beautiful and often very valuable items.

In recent times ethnic jewelry came to mainstream using various materials, such as shells, wood and other to be combined with traditional materials, most of ethnic jewelry comes as necklaces and chains. There are several shops in the market selling this pretty and very decorative items.

Myanmar was already known as ruby land

before the first Portuguese adventurer arrived and traded precious items at bazaars in Pegu, today Bago, east of Yangon.

These are multicultural cities and flourished for hundreds of years. In the last 200 years the weight moved to Yangon or Rangoon the former capital. This city is together with Mandalay the fastest growing city of Myanmar, a manufacturing, commercial and retailing hub.

Plenty of goods manufactured in the city are on display at various parts of the town, one of the most interesting place is the Bogyoke Aung San market long time ago also known as Scott Market. There probably the most interesting shops are selling local created jewelry. When searching for a good jewelry shop in Myanmar this is the place to go from 10am to 5pm, Mondays closed.

Traditional and new styles decorative products are plenty including some real fascinating creations with various precious stone such as ruby, sapphire, jade and diamonds in good quality. Although most styling is rather tradition they very quickly pick up modern trends, pricing is also quite reasonable, it needs some bargaining anyway.
