Making bronze Buddha statue, sculpture & figurine

Buddha statues, sculptures and figurines are made from different materials.

Probably the most used is metal, this can be iron, brass, bronze and sometimes gold and silver. Very popular are also objects carved from jade, others are wood, with variants such as sandalwood (popular and expensive), teak and other hardwood plus softwood which is usually the less expensive.

Making bronze, brass and marble Buddha's

takes quite a while since the steps to do it are quite time consuming and takes a high level of artistic skills. The center for this is at Mandalay Myanmar, there are other places with a good creative output such as India, Cambodia and Nepal but Burmese have traditionally a level of knowledge in this field, they do it for centuries. The whole scene is a bit unusual and dirty for "western" eyes but that's the way it is.

Mandalay is the center for creative artwork in the country and they really show this and deliver. People come from near and far to buy ready made crafts or commission special artwork, means the artists are quite busy throughout the years since the connoisseurs come even from overseas plus Japan, China, Korea and Singapore to get their special requests to be made into reality.

Looking into this workshops everything looks quite basic and this are all real handmade items, there is no industrial production at all, just the artist, the object and the buyer. Considering how long the country has been shut out from world around its amazing how they handle it but this could be even positive since they do it the old fashion style.
