South Myanmar Islands

are spots in the Indian Ocean, also Andaman or South Sea between Dawai or Tavoy and Kawthaung. This is one of the last untouched pieces of land on the planet since before colonial times nobody was really interested and after the British left the country was closed for foreigners.

Although it would be a great area for tourist development nothing is done or allowed by the central government. The only exception is fishing and live aboard diving trips with private yachts starting at Phuket.

It is also quite difficult to enter this part of the country because the visa issued in Kawthaung does not allow to go beyond city limits. Only the Andaman Club Hotel has a permission of trips into the surrounding area but this is also very limited.

The only inhabitants of some islands are Salone or Sea Gypsies who live on their houseboats and visit the islands mainly for hunting and collecting some food, ethnically they are negritos from the Pacific east of today Indonesia. This is a tremendous exotic part of "mother earth" and you better have a look now because in maybe a decade this will be different, just another Thailand.
